Self-Care Club: My Favorite Tools for Myofascial Release

Self care and myofascial release have been synonymous for me these days.

For anyone unfamiliar with myofascial release (aka MFR), it’s essentially self massage, a manipulation of the muscles (myo-) and the fascia (our connective tissue) that can help to free up restrictions and release tension in the tissues, also supporting healthy and supple tissues through hydration and increased circulation.

MFR is great to add into a self-care routine because it doesn’t take much time, anywhere from 10-60 seconds is enough (but, like anything, consistency is queen), and you don’t really need a whole lot of space or many tools… A lot of techniques can be done using your hands or with common house-hold items like blankets or pillows or tennis balls or socks.

But, if you wanted to invest in some high-quality MFR tools to add to your self-care tool kit, then I highly suggest checking out RAD’s amazing line. I’m honored to be an ambassador for the brand. I was introduced to their products during a MFR training with Yoga Medicine in April of 2019 and I’ve probably used their tools almost every day since. MFR is an integral part of my daily self-care practice, especially when it comes to recovery, so I wanted to share a couple of their products that I can’t live without. And if your keen to get yourself some fancy MFR tools, then scroll down below for a discount off your purchase ☺️

Recovery Rounds

These gentle and therapeutic Recovery Rounds were designed in collaboration with my yoga school, Yoga Medicine, and they are the perfect density for all-around-the-body use. Seriously though, use them everywhere!! Feet, legs, hips, belly, back, shoulders, chest, arms, neck… Am I leaving anywhere out??

The Neuro Ball

Their newest product, the Neuro Ball, is amazing for working into and waking up the hands and feet. I personally love to use it on my feet first thing in the morning while I drink my coffee. I feel like the little spikes really help to get the blood flowing and those neuromuscular connections firing. It also comes with a little Micro Round that's nice for working deeper into the hands and the feet, or for releasing tension in the jaw.

The Axle Roller

Because everyone needs a good foam roller in their tool box! The Axle is designed to fit the spine, getting into those often tense and hardworking muscles alongside the spine. It’s also super yummy for rolling out and getting some circulation flowing through the legs. This foam roller is my go-to for pre-surf, sport, or training!

Remember that these tools are a luxury, not a necessity for myofascial release. But, if you want to treat yourself, (which I truly believe you deserve it!) then feel free to use the code "CAITRAD15" for 15% OFF your order!!
