Yoga at Your Desk: MFR for the Hands + Wrists (9 min.)

Release tension in the hands and the wrists with this simple-yet-effective MFR (myofascial release) technique. This can easily be done at your desk, or on the floor, and all you need is some kind of therapy ball. I’m a BIG fan of the RAD products, which I use in this video (and regularly), but a tennis ball or golf ball or bouncy ball will work as well!!

Since we tend to use our hands a lot as humans, this technique is helpful for everyone!! And especially for those of you who use your hands a whole lot — like working at a computer (think: using keyboard + mouse), painting, sewing, cooking, working with tools, landscaping, even just practicing a lot of yoga... Over time, this over use can lead to a build up of tension + adhesions in the tissues, which can lead to discomfort, pain, and limitations when it comes to how efficiently we can use and work with our hands.

So not only does this MFR technique help to release tension in the hands + wrists, it can also be helpful in restoring tissue integrity (so we can use our hands efficiently) and easing pain associated with overwork/use, carpal tunnel syndrome, and arthritis.
