Manifesting Magic: Mid-year Check In

Manifesting Magic: Mid-year Check In

The beginning of summer is a notable halfway point through the year and has an oddly similar feeling to the beginning of a new year. And like a new year, summer always feels like a good time for a checking in and for a fresh start. Here are a few quick prompts to help you get clear on what you want to create this last half of the year.

A FEW SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR SURFING (from a barely-above-average working class surfer)

A FEW SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR SURFING (from a barely-above-average working class surfer)

For many surfers, surfing is a lifelong sport. One in which there is no final destination, no finish line to cross. Even as average, working class surfers (as I like to refer to myself) we get locked into this obsession of always wanting to take our surfing one step further. So, if you’re a bit like me, and looking for a few ways to help improve your surfing and up your fun factor out in the water, I’ve put together an easy-to-follow list here!

MOMENTS FROM MEDITATION: Consciously creating my best life

MOMENTS FROM MEDITATION: Consciously creating my best life

Shortly after my meditation this morning, as I was sipping my coffee and writing in my journal, this affirmation drifted into my mind: I am constantly and consciously creating my best life. I reflected on this, and I thought I’d share what I took from it, what it means to me, and maybe my words will also land with you.

NEVER QUIT YOUR DAY DREAM

NEVER QUIT YOUR DAY DREAM

From the moment my obsession with surfing began, maybe around 8 or 9 years old, I always day-dreamed about becoming a professional surfer. Throughout my early teenage years I surfed in competitions and I even managed to receive support from a few amazing sponsors. And as a kid that grew up in a wave-starved stretch of coast in South Carolina, I felt like I was doing a damn good job. Like I was well on my way.

WE ARE THE OCEAN: Inspired by the Massive Waves sent to PR by Winter Storm Riley

Why are we so drawn to the ocean? Maybe it's because we are all, in some way, so much like her. Full of different moods, energies, a force of nature that is just as strong as it is soft.

WORLD OCEANS' DAY

WORLD OCEANS' DAY

You've given me some of my highest highs as well as some of the most terrifying and humbling experiences. You've shown me what's possible, leading me to my edge, offering me a platform to stand tall in my greatness, all while making sure I keep my ego well out of the way.

BARRELS + INVERSIONS

BARRELS + INVERSIONS

As I continue to deepen both my yoga + surfing practices, the more I continue to recognize the similarities between the two.

 N E W month • NEW moon • NEW visions ☽❍☾

As I take another sip of air, I allow myself to settle right back into right now. Because right now feels good. And right now is exactly where I need to be.

LIVING MY YOGA

LIVING MY YOGA

Yoga is: stretching, breathing, meditating, union of the body, mind and soul… And while these answers are not necessarily wrong, through my own practice I’ve come to learn that yoga is so much more.

FOLLOW YOUR BREATH

FOLLOW YOUR BREATH

Follow your breath. Watch it as it enters your body and fills up your lung with sweet, fresh, pure air. With each inhale you’re breathing in new energy. And with each exhale you are letting go of all the things that no longer serve you.

But I kept coming back. I kept showing up on my mat time and time again. I was addicted to the practice and addicted to the feeling that I left my mat with.

TRUSTING YOUR PROCESS

TRUSTING YOUR PROCESS

Compassion reminds us that we must place our trust in the process and allow our journey to unfold exactly as it should. Not how we think it should. Because really, in yoga or surfing or life, what is the final destination?

FORGIVENESS IS THE KEY

FORGIVENESS IS THE KEY

Forgiveness allows us to move through life with ease. Forgiveness removes the burdens of the past.
The heavy, arduous bag full of all that was – all that stuff that keeps us from moving forward towards the light and towards growth. Forgiveness is freedom.
